John Maloof purchased a box of over 100,000 unknown negatives and undeveloped rolls confiscated from an overdue storage locker. The negatives would inspire John to develop an interest in photography. Over time it became clear that the images in the box were not careless snapshots, but the lifetime work of an unknown master whose work in the chicago streets of 60s and 70s is quickly becoming a sensation. Working as a nanny Vivian Maier may well be the greatest street photographer of her time and she died in 2009 only days before the owner of the images located her, taking with her a story that now is only found in the power of her pictures.
